When he was just a young man Ferd had the amazing opportunity of meeting and receiving career advice from the world’s legendary architect, Frank Lloyd Wright. It is a moment in time deeply etched into his psyche and memory, and one that as years passed he has come to appreciate more and more. As tribute to their meeting and the valuable insight it provided him, Ferd created a miniature edition of The Architects Desk a number of years ago. However it sold out immediately as many purchased two to be placed next to each other as partners desks, leaving many collectors deeply disappointed.
As an homage to the upcoming 150 year anniversary of the birth of the great man, Ferd has decided to re-release The Architects Desk. It has a cantilevered top, drawers for the tools of the trade, a deep drawer for blueprint rolls, and a slide out seat that may be tucked away if desired. Advanced orders are being accepted at this time.
The Workshop Wizard is pleased to honor the famous man with his humble mini tribute in 1/12th scale.
Mr Wright’s words still echo in his heart and have come to contribute to Ferd’s own motto which is “A Commitment to Excellence”. Those who have seen his pieces of furniture in person will attest to the realization of that often lofty endeavor. Frank Lloyd Wright was born in the farming town of Richland Center, Wisconsin, about 20 miles west of Spring Green which is where he eventually built Taliesin. His name has become synonymous with great design, not only due to the form of his designs, but also because of the function. Some people do their most creative work late in life. and Frank Lloyd Wright became America's most influential architect and designed some of his most famous buildings when he was well over 70.
Likewise Ferd was also born in Wisconsin, and has also built some of his most creative work late in life. The Architects Desk is his own tribute to the genius of a man who inspired many, and who guided Ferd’s path with his words more than half a century ago.
The Architects Desk honors the upcoming 150th anniversary of Wright’s birth, and the generous spirit of.sharing insights and skills between the generations of artists.
